THE CONTEXT

A small museum that changes how you read the country

UXO Lao opened the Luang Prabang centre in 2009 to explain the legacy of unexploded ordnance and the work required to remove it. Displays include war remnants, survivor stories and information on clearance, turning an abstract historical subject into something visibly connected to present-day life in Laos.

THE VISIT

Keep the scale of the centre separate from the scale of the issue

The exhibition is compact, but the subject is not. Spend enough time to understand how contamination affects land, livelihoods and safety, then carry that context with you when travelling through rural parts of the country.
